Sightseeing tour of Ile d’Arz
Numerous prehistoric monuments can be found on the island, including the dolmen at the pointe de Pen Liousse, indicating that the land was already occupied at that time. There are also a number of interesting monuments to discover. A stroll through the heart of the village in spring will reveal gardens lined with hydrangeas and camellias in full bloom.
Stroll through the villages and admire the old sailors’ houses and pretty gardens. Visit the Monument Historique church of the Nativity of Our Lady, the Priory, the Manoir de Kernoël and the Moulin à Marée.

The name of the island of Arz comes from the Breton word Arz, from the Celtic Arthos, meaning bear.
The commune of Ile d’Arz is made up of eight islands: Arz, Drenec Vraz, Drenec, Illuric, Lerne, Mouchiouse, spiren and Ilur or Illur. The island lies to the east of Ile aux Moines, 6 km from Vannes, about 20 minutes by boat from the mainland. It is star-shaped, 5 km long and 3 km wide. 250 inhabitants called Ildarais and ildraises share the island’s 324 hectares.
The highest difference in altitude is just 13 m, making it a popular destination for walkers and cyclists. Ile d’Arz also boasts some magnificent coastal paths, which are very popular.
