The Cromlech de Kergonan is a must-see for visitors to Ile aux Moines. With its remarkably well-preserved 65-meter-long megalithic enclosure, it is the island’s most impressive menhir. The 34 monoliths form a splayed arc that faces south-east.

The largest is at the north-western end and has been christened “The Monk” because its shape is strangely reminiscent of a hooded figure. Small cupules or circular engravings have been dug into its back. A giant menhir has been located 30 m to the north-east of this megalithic enclosure, but is now buried beneath buildings.
